Leaving Tufts with Newfound Passions

As someone who was staying in the area, I was able to get a glimpse of what college life might look like when commuting. My seminars pushed me to think outside the box, and the challenges I faced sparked my interest for the subjects we studied.

In Learning How to Learn in STEM, my perspectives on what studying STEM subjects entailed as well as my general mindset when it came to learning completely shifted. In my class of eight, every student was able to voice their thoughts. This allowed for a really engaging and exciting learning atmosphere where everyone was able to learn from both the teacher and their peers. My second seminar, Social Psychology of Racism, Prejudice, and Discrimination, allowed us to create our own studies relating to race studies. Through the lectures and my project, my previous passion for social justice grew as I continued to learn more.

During the Summer Accelerator, there wasn't a moment of boredom. I was always looking forward to my classes and to seeing my friends. There was no judgment in the classrooms, and I felt comfortable sharing my thoughts with my peers and instructors. Being surrounded by other driven students was incredibly inspiring and I felt that I learned so much from them. I made many close friends while in the program and had an incredible time. In the end, I was able to leave the Tufts Summer Accelerator with newfound passions for the subjects of my seminars and lifelong friends!
