Before I went off to Tufts for the Pre-College Intensive, Engineering with AI, I must admit that I was a little unsure about how much I would enjoy it. Now, looking back, I'd leap at the chance to do it all over again. It turned out that those two weeks ended up being so wonderful; it gave me an introduction to what to expect from my field and college life.
The classes were interactive and participative, and the activities/sports on the quad during the evenings brought it all together. This was a brilliant mix of learning and living, and I really made good use of every moment.
Some of my favorite memories include:
- Baking a Cake with Friends
I'll never forget baking a cake with my floor mates in the Miller Hall Kitchen. It was a hilarious experience and a great story to tell. - Exploring Boston
I loved taking the subway to downtown Boston twice a week. It was great to get out and explore a new and vast city. - One of the highlights was the group project, as it had everything that we learned combined into one collaborative effort.
- Breakfast at DeWick
My days actually started on a great note with the delicious halal breakfast at DeWick Dining Hall.
But my favorite part about Tufts was the friends I made; specifically, the guys on my floor. Because our program ran from 9 to 4 every day, my friends and I had a lot of time to hang out—for example, getting dinner, or maybe playing some basketball or even rushing to the mini-mart for snacks right before curfew.
All in all, the Pre-College experience at Tufts was much more than I had expected. If I had the chance to come back and do it again, I would in a heartbeat. It gave me so much in terms of learning and personal growth, and I'm extremely grateful for that.
