At Tufts, I had an amazing educational and fun experience. I was in the Marketing Essentials program, which was 2 weeks long, and I met so many amazing people and got a taste of what college life was like at Tufts. I got to see the city of Boston raw and got to participate in many off-campus events. In this blog, I will review all of the restaurants I ate at during those off-campus activities.
The first thing I did was go to Newbury Street with my friends (spoiler alert: on all the days we could go to Boston, we were there ¾ times). Here, the shopping was amazing. I loved browsing various shops and boutiques with my friends. It was an amazing bonding experience, and it helped us grow closer. Here, we ate at a restaurant called Stephanie's. We got pasta, charred broccolini, and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad came out first before the main entrees, and it was a very solid Caesar salad. The vegetables were fresh, the dressing was creamy and bright, and the croutons tasted like they were made in-house. The only critique I would have is to add more variety of vegetables, such as kale, arugula, etc. In addition, the price was hefty at a whopping $20. However, it was still pretty good, so I would give it a 7.5/10. Next, the charred broccolini and pasta came out. The broccolini had a lemon to squeeze all over, so we did just that, and it was good. Nothing special since it's just broccolini, but they executed it well, so I would give it a 7/10. The pasta was phenomenal. It was vodka pasta, and everything was there. It was creamy, slightly peppery, had a good tomato flavor, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Even though it was $30 for a mediocre portion size, it was very well done, so I would give it an 8/10. Overall, though the food was solid, the prices are not worth it, so I wouldn’t be willing to wait a long time to come back.
The second day, I went to Quincy Market with another group of friends. The food here was pretty good. I got food from this Indian restaurant, and the chicken tikka masala was very good. Although I’ve never had it before, I still thought it was amazing. It was pretty spicy (which I love), the chicken was decently tender, the sauce was extremely flavorful, and it was only $13. For that, I rate it an 8.7/10. After that, our group all had cannolis from Mike's Pastry. It was really good, but I found the filling to be too sweet. Personally, I would rate it a 7.2/10, but I would see how others would rate it higher.
Lastly, the most memorable meal was somewhere that I don’t even remember. It was a Mexican restaurant in Newbury, and they were serving up some Mexican food. This is probably the best restaurant I’ve been to in Boston. I got a burrito here, and I swear it was miles better than Chipotle. It had carnitas in it, with a plethora of other additions. I don’t know everything that was in it, but it was amazing. They also gave out free chips with this salsa, and at the end of the meal, I drank the salsa because it was that good. All my friends loved it; it was a small business, and I will make sure to come back here many times if I find myself in Boston again.
Overall, the Marketing Essentials program at Tufts opened my eyes to what Boston could offer. I loved walking around and rating my meals here, and in this blog, I hope I showed you what to expect from these 3 restaurants!
