SMFA Studio Art

Take art school for a test drive by engaging with SMFA at Tufts’ interdisciplinary approach to art making. You’ll be encouraged to blur the line between disciplines while advancing technical skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and animation; allowing you to create conceptually sophisticated artwork.

I have definitely explored how to better incorporate conceptual ideas into my work, and how ideas guide our art just as much as the subject matter. I have learned how to take a loose prompt and create work that displays my views and ideas.

I only ever thought about art in a technical aspect, but that has completely changed. I am much more interested and engaged in my art conceptually. Before taking part in this program, I had only ever used traditional mediums. I am now very eager to get my hands on as many mediums as I can. I want to do more with animation and sculpture, as well as try different styles of painting.
