I had an amazing experience with Marketing Essentials and everything it offered. I met so many people from around the world with interests very different from mine. I had many friends from different programs, which I really enjoyed because I could separate my work and social life. This helped me stay focused when working on projects. The friends I made in this program truly impacted my life; I felt alive and happy around them.
This program wasn't just about learning a subject—mine was marketing—but also about learning to be sociable in a new and unfamiliar environment, establishing a routine on your own, and becoming independent. Some unforgettable moments from the program were the late night talks with my roommate about where we lived, going to the gym in the mornings, eating ice cream for breakfast, and playing Kahoot before class.
I recommend this program to those who are curious. At this point in our lives, many of us don't know what we want to study, how to live alone, or how to make friends in an unfamiliar place. In this program, I learned that marketing is not what I want to study. I always thought it was my path, but taking these classes made me realize I would rather pursue social media, communications, or public relations. Sometimes, you need programs like this to better understand what you want to study because they provide the experience of attending a university and taking college-level classes.
For anyone who joins, I highly recommend visiting Davis Square, which has many cool restaurants and shops. Also, take the opportunity to explore the city of Boston whenever you can. Being honest, the dining hall food can be hit or miss, but they offer a variety of options for all dietary preferences.
